The Mildura Irrigation Colony was founded on temperance principles with the hope that settlers would opt for the European drinking tradition of fine wines in moderation, rather than excessive consumption of spirits. In 1888 the Chaffey Brothers established Chateau Mildura to produce such wines but the activites of individuals like the Smuggler of Psyche Bend ruined this dream so in 1910 Chateau Mildura began producing brandies and fortified wines. Now a century later Chateau Mildura is again producing fine table wines.
This wine has a vibrant deep ruby colour, and exhibits an intense lifted berry and plum nose. Its well balanced palate shows integrated oak and berry fruit. Consume now or cellar for the short term.
